The Benjamin Franklin Elementary Foundation
A volunteer-run nonprofit supporting dual immersion success at Franklin Elementary since 2009.
BFEF provides language support.
The BFEF pays for a group of interns and local teaching assistants each year for our dual immersion public school students. These native speakers assist with small group instruction and reinforce language immersion and cultural connections in all classrooms. They also provide intervention for students who need extra help throughout the school year.
BFEF creates a greener, healthier campus.
The BFEF funds our Green Team, a group of paid campus caretakers and volunteers. They maintain and expand our native plant and climate-ready grounds all year long and serve as community liaisons for other schools interested in campus sustainability. Franklin teachers regularly use the grounds for science lessons on plant and animal life cycles, composting, and more.
BFEF enriches student learning.
As the Foundation has grown, BFEF has been able to expand funding for art, music, and gardening classes for students during the school day. These weekly classes enhance students’ arts education and reinforces Franklin’s focus on creating global citizens who care for each other and the planet.
