Like all California public school teachers, Franklin’s educators must provide visual and performing arts instruction each week in their homerooms.
The BFEF supplements this instruction by providing additional lessons from a skilled music teacher, Ms. Sheila Nicholls. She teaches fundamentals, songwriting, and podcasting to students. In 2023, she collaborated with students in grades 4-6 on writing a mini-musical based on the book What Animals Really Like. Student musicians contributed their skills. The entire class then performed the piece for parents and younger students.
